Be Present

Hello Yogis!  I hope you are enjoying some downtime this August. Such a great, hot, month to just BE, whether that's at the public pool, the beach, under a tree in the park, at a museum...you name it, wherever your body is, that's the perfect place to just be. With all our modern distractions, I know that being present to the actual moment we occupy can be challenging. That's why my personal intention and mantra for August is (drumroll):

                                                BE PRESENT

I inhale Be and exhale Present whenever I notice I am getting ahead of myself. I have found myself breathing my mantra while walking through the park and it helps me to slow down and notice- the greenery, the birds, the bees flying around me. I breathe it while I eat my food. I breathe it when I feel frazzled from the summer heat. Basically, I use this mantra throughout the day as a way to guide myself back to the actual moment I am occupying, so that I can enjoy it. As Henry David Thoreau says: “You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”

Maybe you already have a mantra that brings you into the present moment. If not, feel free to use BE PRESENT as a way to enjoy the hot, lazy days of August.
