Happy Valentine's Day!
Seems like everyone has been feeling winter and getting sick these last couple weeks, myself included. If you've practiced yoga and mindfulness with me over a year, you've heard me say that the winter season is all about gentle contemplation, a slow, steady pace, and a restful approach. We instinctively feel this slower rhythm in our bodies and it can create conflict with the fast paced life we place ourselves in, if we believe we have to maintain that steady pace all the time. If you've been feeling worn down or want to take a big step back from "life" try the "nonactions" on the list below for a couple weeks, and see how you feel. I am doing them too.
Eat slowly- enjoy your food and enjoy your company, whether it's your family, or you are having a meal by yourself.
Block out fifteen minutes of unplanned time in your day and simply do nothing or soak in an epsom salt bath (twenty minutes).
Just do one thing at a time instead of multitasking as you usually do.
Lay down and read a book for half an hour, instead of watching TV or scrolling social media.
Watch the sunrise or the sunset. Or both in one day! Seeing the sun on both ends of the day is more easily done in the winter season when the days are shorter.
You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. Treat yourself right by slowing down and creating peace in your days!
Please comment below and tell me which "nonaction" you are adding to your day. Doing one thing at a time and not multitasking has been the most informative for me!
Happy Valentines's Day!
